Jamir Brown ran the fastest 110-meter hurdle time in the country in his first weekend of Division I outdoor track, earning his second Atlantic Coast Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors of the season Tuesday, the conference announced.
At the USF Alumni Invitational Saturday, Brown ran a 13:49 in the preliminary round of the 110-meter hurdles. That time was 0.1 seconds better than his previous personal best and 0.26 seconds better than his Division III championship-winning run.
By the week’s end, Brown’s time stood as the best time in D-I by 0.13 seconds. This is the sophomore’s first top time in a D-I track event.
The ACC award is Brown’s first conference honor of the outdoor season. Brown received his first track athlete of the week honor in January following his personal-record performance in the Nittany Lion Challenge during the indoor campaign.
