Syracuse track and field competed at the USF Alumni Invitational in Florida this weekend, wrapping up its first outdoor meet of the year.
Jamir Brown set a new personal best in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing the preliminary round with a time of 13.49 seconds. The second-place finisher in his heat was nearly half a second behind Brown. He did not race in the final heat.
Also in the 110-meter hurdles, Isaiah Hayes advanced to the final heat and finished with a time of 14.16 seconds. The mark was the best of Hayes’ career and earned him a bronze medal.
On the women’s side, Peyton Rollins set a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles. Rollins took ninth place, but narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals with a time of 13.70 seconds. Her teammate, Tia Outlaw, came in 13th with a time of 13.76 seconds.
In the open 100-meter, Indie Wallace-Persaud placed ninth after crossing the line in 11.69 seconds. And Nicea Jones wrapped up SU’s standout performances with a fourth-place finish in the open 400-meter, posting a time of 54.01 seconds.
The Orange return to action Friday at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State in Raleigh, North Carolina.
