Syracuse goaltender Daniella Guyette was named ACC Defender of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Guyette helped propel SU to a 2-0 record on the week with narrow wins over then-No. 5 Yale and then-No. 20 Virginia. She tallied 15 total saves and a .600 save percentage across the two contests.

Against the Bulldogs, Guyette headlined a masterful defensive performance, limiting Yale to just five goals on 19 shots, making 10 saves for a .667 save percentage. Against UVA, she followed it up with five saves on 10 shots for a .500 save percentage, again holding the Cavaliers to just five scores.

It helped make an already stunning year for SU’s netminder even better. Guyette’s totaled 67 saves on the year, leads the conference and ranks third nationally in goals against average (6.98). The Orange defense also ranks fourth in the nation with 6.90 goals against per game.

As Syracuse’s defense has enjoyed a stellar season — now winning eight games in a row — Guyette’s been their backbone.
