Syracuse women’s lacrosse moved up two spots to No. 3 in Inside Lacrosse’s latest poll, which was announced Monday. The jump comes after SU beat UAlbany Tuesday and then-No. 24 Pitt Saturday.
On Tuesday, the Orange scraped past UAlbany 10-8, fueled by hat tricks from Emma Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus. SU couldn’t pull away late but held on to pick up its eighth straight victory.
On Saturday, Syracuse’s offense exploded for a season-high 16 goals in a 16-7 win over Pitt, including 10 in the first half. The Orange began the game on an 8-0 run and entered the fourth quarter leading 15-2 before Pitt strung together five unanswered scores. Molly Guzik tallied four goals, while Mackenzie Rich led SU with a career-high seven points.
Syracuse also got help from losses amid the previous top five teams. Then-No. 1 North Carolina lost to then-No. 12 Northwestern, then-No. 2 Stanford lost to then-No. 15 Boston College and Villanova and then-No. 4 Navy fell to then-No. 21 Loyola this week. Both Stanford and Navy dipped below SU in the poll.
Riding a nine-game win streak, the Orange climb into the top three for the first time since 2024.
