Temple transfer guard Aiden Tobiason has committed to Syracuse, he announced on Instagram Monday. Tobiason becomes the Orange’s fourth transfer addition of the offseason.
In his freshman season with the Owls, Tobiason made 22 starts but averaged just 4.8 points per game. He chose Temple over offers from UMBC, Sacred Heart, Delaware, Delaware State and Vermont out of high school.
But Tobiason broke out as a sophomore this season. He averaged 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game — all career highs. Tobiason also started all 32 games and logged a whopping 35.3 minutes per contest.
Syracuse hosted Tobiason for a visit on Saturday, per 247Sports. Now, after officially choosing the Orange, he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
He joins former Siena players Gavin Doty and Tasman Goodrick, as well as McNeese State transfer Garwey Dual as SU’s transfer portal additions thus far. Doty led the Saints with an average of 18 points per game, while Goodrick averaged 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds before suffering a season-ending injury. Dual, meanwhile, put up 8.4 points per game with the Cowboys and was one of the portal’s top defenders.
Newly-hired head coach Gerry McNamara has wasted no time rebuilding his squad. SU has already lost seven players to the portal — including starters Donnie Freeman and Naithan George — while four others are out of eligibility. Syracuse will likely begin the season with just two rotational players from its 2025-26 roster in Kiyan Anthony and Sadiq White Jr., who both confirmed their returns.
