Former Syracuse assistant coach Dan Engelstad has become Pepperdine’s associate head coach, ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported Sunday. A source independently told The Daily Orange that Engelstad would be joining Pepperdine.
Engelstad spent the last two seasons at SU as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator under Adrian Autry. Before joining the Orange, Engelstad was the head coach for Mount Saint Mary’s from 2018-24 and the head coach for Southern Vermont from 2013-18.
At Pepperdine, Engelstad will work under Griff Aldrich, who spent one season as Virginia’s associate head coach after serving as Longwood’s head coach from 2018-25. Former Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry filled the vacancy on UVA’s staff created by Aldrich’s departure.
Engelstad, alongside fellow assistants Brenden Straughn and Allen Griffin, was relieved of his assistant coaching duties at Syracuse following Autry’s firing.
