The water main that supplies Syracuse University’s west campus was hit by the ongoing I-81 construction project Tuesday, according to an email to residents from Mel Molsberry, assistant director of residential living at SU.

The incident is “isolated and is now being repaired,” according to the email. While it won’t affect water pressure, residents can expect to see brown water as they “continue to flush all the lines that feed the hill,” Molsberry wrote. The message instructed affected students to take advantage of campus services as alternative resources.

“Please utilize Brockway Dining for food and beverages, as well as dining options in academic buildings and Schine,” the email states.

The email recommended students seeking “alternate shower facilities” to use the locker rooms in the Barnes Center at the Arch for the time being.

Molsberry thanked affected students for their patience as the university continues to “navigate the situation.”

Molsberry did not immediately respond to The Daily Orange’s request for comment.
