The Syracuse Police Department unveils a monument depicting an officer kneeling atop the American flag, which honors officer Michael Jensen and lieutenant Michael Hoosock two years after their death. The two officers were fatally shot following an escalated routine traffic stop in April 2024.

The Syracuse Fire Department Station Truck 2 stands alongside officers and attendees during Tuesday’s unveiling. The ceremony took place at the statues’ permanent location at James Pass Arboretum, a city park in the South Side of Syracuse.

Firefighters hold a flag above the crowd gathered for the monument’s reveal. Several attendees, including members of the police force, family and friends of the officers, were present for the unveiling.
