A Syracuse University student reported a burglary at their residence on the 700 block of Walnut Avenue on Sunday night around 9:25 p.m., according to a Monday campus-wide Department of Public Safety email.

While other students were inside the home, no injuries were reported. The suspects entered through a door that had been left propped open, according to the email.

After briefly leaving their room, the student said they saw three people wearing ski masks enter the property. They took personal items, including a jacket, cash and a gaming console, according to the email.

The email emphasized the importance of locking and securing doors, keeping valuables out of sight and being aware of surroundings.
DPS asked any witnesses to contact the Syracuse Police Department at (315) 442 – 5222 or DPS at (315) 443 – 2224 with any information regarding the incident. Students can also anonymously report non-emergency information using the Silent Witness tool or Orange Safe app.
