Syracuse University’s School of Art affirmed that it has consolidated several majors listed in SU’s academic portfolio review into currently offered Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs in a Monday Instagram post.
The listed disciplines, which consolidated into the studio art degree in 2014 were included in SU’s compilation of 93 affected programs following the review, according to the post. Students can select a concentration within the studio art degree, which includes all affected programs.
The statement clarified that the following disciplines remain “fully supported” within the School of Art’s B.F.A. and M.F.A. studio art degrees:
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Ceramics
- Printmaking
- Illustration
- Fibers
- Jewelry and metalsmithing
In a Thursday report published by SU’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness, each of the majors listed in the post have been consolidated to create a “single entry point” for students.
Despite the degree’s update, the school’s “core practices and areas of study remain unchanged,” the Monday statement reads.
