Following the 2026 NFL Draft, former Syracuse offensive lineman Da’Metrius Weatherspoon signed with the Buffalo Bills Saturday as an undrafted free agent, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. Weatherspoon is the fifth Orange player to sign with an NFL squad after the draft.

He transferred from Howard to Syracuse before the 2024 season, and despite playing right tackle for the Bison, he immediately slotted in as SU’s starting left tackle. He played 747 snaps and made 10 starts for the Orange, protecting Kyle McCord’s blind side during a season where the quarterback broke the Atlantic Coast Conference’s single-season passing yards record with 4,779.

His best moment of that season came in Syracuse’s 31-28 win over then-No. 23 Georgia Tech, a performance that earned him ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors.

Although 2025 was far less successful for SU, its struggles weren’t due to Weatherspoon’s performance. The 6-foot-7 tackle brought much-needed consistency to Syracuse’s offensive line, playing 818 snaps in 12 games and earning a 73.3 offensive grade, per Pro Football Focus.

Weatherspoon declared for the draft on Dec. 24, 2025, after two seasons as a fixture of Syracuse’s starting offensive line. His transfer before the 2024 campaign was motivated by his desire to play NFL football. Now, he’ll finally have a chance to live those dreams out with the Bills, joining a unit that features four-time Pro Bowler Dion Dawkins and Josh Allen at quarterback.
