Syracuse defensive lineman Kevin Jobity Jr. signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent Saturday evening. After suffering a season-ending injury in 2024, Jobity returned rejuvenated in 2025, recording 24 total tackles and a team-best five sacks.
During an otherwise forgettable season, especially for the Orange’s defense, Jobity remained a key asset. A hot start, with five tackles against UConn, was accelerated with six tackles and three sacks versus Pitt a month later.
However, Jobity couldn’t shoulder the entire defensive burden. SU’s unit ranked last in the Atlantic Coast Conference in points allowed per game and second in total yards conceded a game, leading to the departure of defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson and hiring of former Toledo DC Vince Kehres.
Before his senior year, Jobity was still a steady presence on Syracuse’s front line. He joined the Orange in 2022, just one year after he began playing football at Maryvale High School (New York). Jobity was a natural talent, though.
In SU’s final eight games in 2022, Jobity cracked the defensive line rotation, making 13 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and recording two sacks. The Orange finished 14th nationally in passing defense and 21st in total defense, raising expectations for Syracuse’s defensive lineman for Year 2.
Jobity exceeded those expectations, tallying a career-best 30 tackles, while forcing his lone fumble across his SU career versus then-No. 4 Florida State. In that season, Jobity showed his potential before the season-ending injury halted his momentum in 2024.
Before the NFL Draft, Jobity had been in touch with the Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, among many other teams, he told Syracuse.com. He also participated in the Bills’ local pro day.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Jobity now joins stars T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward on the Steelers’ defense.
