Former McNeese State guard Garwey Dual committed to Syracuse, 247Sports reported Saturday afternoon. Dual will join his fourth school in as many years, following additional stops at Providence and Seton Hall.
In his three-year career thus far, Dual has averaged 5.7 points per game in 97 appearances. He most recently posted a career-high 8.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists on 45.6% shooting with McNeese.
Dual has seen his usage rise since his freshman year, playing 26.5 minutes a contest for the Cowboys last year. McNeese made the NCAA Tournament, where No. 5 seed Vanderbilt eliminated it 78-68 in the first round. Dual led the Cowboys with 16 points and six assists in the matchup.
While Dual never eclipsed 18 points on the season, he showed big-game potential, finishing in double figures 12 times last season. He also started 17 of his 34 appearances.
Per 247Sports, Dual was the nation’s fifth-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2023 out of high school. Although he hasn’t lived up to that billing, he has the chance to shine under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and alongside returning guard Kiyan Anthony and Siena transfer Gavin Doty.
