Syracuse forward Tyler Betsey will enter the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported Friday. Betsey averaged 6.7 points per game and shot 40.7% from 3-point range last season.
After spending his freshman year at Cincinnati, Betsey transferred to SU last May. A former four-star recruit, Betsey played just 11.1 minutes per game as a freshman while averaging 3.3 points.
With an increased role at Syracuse, playing 18 minutes per game, the 6-foot-8 forward doubled his scoring average and increased his 3-point percentage by over 8%. Betsey notably scored a team-high 16 points in the Orange’s narrow overtime loss against Houston in Las Vegas and was their most efficient 3-point threat throughout the season.
“I don’t know what I’m doing next,” Betsey said after SU’s season ended in the ACC Tournament. “Honestly, I’m just thinking about what just happened.”
Betsey will now look to play for his third school in three years.
