Syracuse’s Joey Spallina took home Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday. Spallina also earned a place on the All-ACC Team with Michael Leo and Luke Rhoa.
The Orange’s three players on the team are tied for second in the conference with No. 5 North Carolina. No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 8 Virginia and No. 11 Duke each had four representatives on the All-ACC Team.
Spallina, a Tewaaraton Award contender, is the first Orange player to win the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year since 2017, when Sergio Salcido won the honor.
Spallina has had an expectedly productive 2026 season with 30 goals and an ACC-high 41 assists. He’s averaged the 13th-most points per game in Division I, logging 4.73 per contest. He also set SU’s all-time points record in the Orange’s victory over Colgate on April 18.
Leo has played in midfield and attack for SU, recording 28 goals and 21 assists. Also part of the highly-touted 2022 recruiting class, Leo was selected No. 6 in the Premier Lacrosse League College Draft on April 14.
Rhoa’s pinpoint shooting has led him to 23 goals and eight assists this season. The midfielder has scored 1.53 goals per game. Rhoa also heard his name called in the PLL College Draft, getting picked No. 16 by the New York Atlas.
All three players look to help the Orange avenge a loss in their regular-season finale to No. 1 Notre Dame Saturday when they open the ACC Tournament Friday against No. 2 seed North Carolina.
