Appalachian State center Luke Wilson has committed to Syracuse, he announced on Instagram Tuesday. Wilson drastically improves the Orange’s big lineup, which also includes Siena transfer Tasman Goodrick and Malian freshman Abdramane Siby.
In his sophomore season with the Mountaineers, Wilson shone on the court. He averaged 10.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks — all career highs. He started just one game in the 2024-25 season, and redshirted the year prior. Wilson started 30 of Appalachian State’s 32 games last year, logging 28.1 minutes per contest and shooting 64.2% from the floor.
He stood out on both ends of the court, earning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year honors, and he’ll help the Orange out significantly in that department. SU allowed an average of 74.3 points per game last season, which ranked 11th among the 18 Atlantic Coast Conference teams.
Wilson provides size down low, standing at 6-foot-9, 255 pounds. He’ll enter his redshirt junior season in 2026-27 with two years of eligibility remaining.
For Syracuse’s depleted bigs group, he’s a welcome addition. Syracuse starting center William Kyle III — who excelled despite being undersized — has run out of eligibility, and freshman Tiefing Diawara entered the portal.
Returning zero bigs from last year, new head coach Gerry McNamara reeled in his former Siena player in Goodrick, who put up a respectable 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in limited time last year, and added Siby to its 2026 recruiting class.
Wilson also becomes Syracuse’s fifth transfer portal get and eighth addition this offseason, joining the likes of Siena’s Gavin Doty, Temple’s Aiden Tobiason and freshman Ryan Moesch.
