Syracuse University and the NFL Players Association announced an educational partnership Thursday afternoon. The program provides access to online degrees, certificates and career development opportunities through SU’s Falk College of Sport, Whitman School of Management, Newhouse School of Public Communications and College of Professional Studies.

Degrees in Liberal Studies, Business Management and Policy Studies, among other majors, will be available. The partnership is accessible to active and former NFL players, NFLPA staff and family members.

“As a Syracuse alum, I can speak firsthand to the University’s prestige and the doors it opens — both on the field and in the boardroom,” former NFL lineman and Syracuse graduate Justin Pugh stated in the program’s announcement. “Syracuse has a rare ability to connect with athletes in a real and meaningful way, and that shared commitment is what brought us together. Partnering with NFLPA is a natural extension of everything the University already stands for.”

In addition to being offered on Syracuse’s main campus, educational offerings will be accessible online and at SU’s New York City, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles campuses.

Thursday’s partnership adds to an extensive list of professional leagues collaborating with Syracuse. The university also teamed up with Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the National Hockey League and the National Women’s Soccer League.
