Former Syracuse forward Aurora Almón has committed to Florida, she announced on social media Tuesday morning. In one season with the Orange, Almón averaged 1.2 points and 3.5 rebounds across 29 appearances.
Almón is the fourth Syracuse player to announce her next destination, joining Sophie Burrows to North Carolina, Camdyn Nelson to Northwestern and Madeline Potts to Saint Joseph’s. Returnees Keira Scott and Oregon transfer Sarah Rambus are now SU’s only rostered forwards.
Almón spent her first collegiate season at Miami. The Dominican Republic native appeared just 15 times for the Hurricanes, averaging 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds across 5.2 minutes.
With a lot of uncertainty in the frontcourt, Almón had a chance to take a significant step forward with SU. However, Uche Izoje starred as Syracuse’s best player and Journey Thompson became its go-to off the bench, limiting Almón from breaking out.
Almón’s height was her strongest attribute. The 6-foot-4 forward hauled in 14 rebounds in SU’s triple-overtime win over Cal and nine in December 2025 against Binghamton. Otherwise, Almón spent most of the season on the bench as the Orange reached the NCAA Tournament.
