Syracuse forward Aurora Almón is entering the transfer portal, On3 reported Monday. Almón is the seventh SU player to leave the program, following forward Justus Fitzgerald, guard Sophie Burrows, guard Madeline Potts, wing Shy Hawkins, guard Camdyn Nelson and forward Jasmyn Cooper.

Almón, a redshirt sophomore, spent her first two years of collegiate play at the University of Miami. She redshirted during her debut campaign — the 2023-24 season — and averaged 5.2 minutes per game across 15 appearances as a sophomore for the Hurricanes.

She decided to transfer away from Miami entering her redshirt sophomore year, and found herself at Syracuse soon after. The Orange gave her an increased role, relying on her to give starting center Uche Izoje rest. Almón averaged 3.5 boards per game with SU — as opposed to 1.7 with the Hurricanes — and made four starts in her 29 appearances with Syracuse.

Her scoring production never increased though. Almón averaged just 1.2 points per game with the Orange, and she only attempted one field goal across Syracuse’s four postseason contests.

Almón’s departure leaves SU with four currently rostered players: Izoje, Olivia Schmitt, Angelica Velez and Keira Scott. Dominique Darius could return for an additional season, but is still seeking a waiver for another year of eligibility.
