Syracuse forward Jasmyn Cooper has entered the transfer portal, On3 reported Monday. Cooper is SU’s seventh player to declare for the portal this offseason, joining guards Sophie Burrows, Madeline Potts, Shy Hawkins and Camdyn Nelson and forwards Justus Fitzgerald and Aurora Almón.
In 24 appearances as a freshman, Cooper averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds across 10.8 minutes per game. Three of those appearances were starts, but Cooper never sustained the role, eclipsing 10 points just once — in SU’s Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament loss to Louisville (11 points).
Entering Syracuse, Cooper was head coach Felisha Legette-Jack’s top-ranked recruit. Cooper was a four-star and ranked 60th in the class of 2025 by ESPN. She starred at Noble & Greenough School (Massachusetts) and for MCW Starz, a club team founded by former Syracuse men’s basketball star Michael Carter-Williams.
However, when she arrived at Syracuse, Cooper was buried behind standout center Uche Izoje and Journey Thompson and split time with Almón. She showed flashes of potential from both deep and inside, hitting shots at a 53.7% clip, but would likely be limited behind Izoje again next year.
With Cooper’s departure, the Orange are now tasked with retooling their frontcourt, alongside an already weak guard unit. They now have just four players on their roster — Izoje, Olivia Schmitt, Angelica Velez and Keira Scott.
