Syracuse women’s rowing remained at No. 10 in the Week 8 Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll, which was released Tuesday. It’s SU’s third straight week being ranked No. 10 after a dominant outing at the Wolverine Double Dual last weekend.

The Orange won eight of their 10 races at the event, including a sweep of No. 16 Ohio State and three victories over No. 17 Michigan. SU’s varsity 8 continued to emerge as its most dependable boat, collecting wins over both Ohio State and Michigan, while its varsity 4 and second varsity 8 also continued trending upward.

Before its success in Ann Arbor last Saturday, SU captured a varsity 4+ title at the New York State Championship on April 18 and earned multiple first-place finishes at the Ivy Invitational on April 11. Syracuse has proved it can consistently beat quality mid-ranked national opponents, but cracking the top nine may require defeating top-eight crews later this spring.

Still, the Orange appear to be in a better position than they were last year at this time, with stronger week-to-week performances and improving speed across several lineups.
