Syracuse University announced rising seniors William Lewandowski and Alyssa Limjuco as Class Marshals for the class of 2027 on Tuesday.
As marshals, Lewandowski and Limjuco will guide students through commencement, help recommend commencement speakers and communicate with SU administrators to share student experiences, according to a release. The pair will also represent the class of 2027 at university events and speak with alumni.
The Student Experience division selected the students based on “leadership, academics and an unwavering commitment to the Orange community,” according to the release.
“From integrity, heart and academics, to a genuine passion for community, William and Alyssa embody everything we hope to cultivate in our students,” Sheriah Dixon, the dean of students, said in the release.
Lewandowski is an entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises major in the Whitman School of Management, where he served as a peer mentor and lead ambassador. He’s also launched two businesses: Clique Sports and WM Media.
Additionally, Lewandowski served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and an Entrepreneurship Fellow during his time in the Couri Hatchery Student Business Incubator.
“To me, being Orange is about the people—making an impact on the lives of others to help them achieve their goals,” Lewandowski said in the release. “There are big changes approaching the University and as the Class of 2027 we can become agents of change and leave our mark, which is quite a special opportunity.”
Limjuco is a Renée Crown University Honors Scholar and member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society. She is a film and sociology major who works as a communications manager for the OrangeReels Film Festival and a video editor for Project FreeFall.
She’s also involved in several on and off-campus organizations, including the National Panhellenic Council, the Shaw Center and OttoTHON.
“I hope to be remembered as someone who embraced the full breadth of Syracuse University, someone who led with intention, while believing and supporting through intentional actions, that the University is at its best when students are encouraged to bring all parts of themselves into the spaces they serve,” Limjuco said in the release.
