Syracuse University’s campus will undergo “one of the most active construction periods in recent years” this summer, according to a campus-wide email from Vice President and Chief Campus Facilities Officer Pete Sala on Wednesday.

The email lists the ongoing projects at the university, explaining there will be increased construction vehicle traffic on campus. The Campus Planning, Design and Construction team plans to direct traffic away from the “heart” of campus, according to the email.

There is an interactive campus map that allows users to view active construction areas.

“We urge all campus community members to remain alert and pay attention to posted signage, flaggers and fencing in place for your safety,” Sala said in the email.

In alignment with the university’s comprehensive housing strategy, the new residence hall at 544 University Place is on track to be completed by summer 2027 and the new hall and dining center at 315 Waverly Ave. will be completed in August 2027. Additionally, Orange Hall will receive system upgrades this summer.

Pages Cafe in Bird Library will become a full-service Starbucks and the Life Sciences Cafe will be renovated in the summer.

Link Hall’s STEM renewal will continue through November 2027. The renewal plan involves modernizing the building’s laboratories and systems. A full renovation of the Physics Building’s basement will be completed in August for the Quantum Technology Center.

Falk College’s Grant Auditorium, Dineen Hall student lounges and the Regent Theater Complex and Syracuse Stage will also be renovated this summer.

Repairs on The Newhouse Family Plaza will begin in mid-May and continue in fall 2026. DellPlain Hall will receive masonry repairs and Goldstein Auditorium’s roof will be replaced. The Chancellor’s Residence and Carriage House will also have its roof replaced.

The campus electrical system on Mount Olympus and the Carnegie Lot will receive upgrades that will continue through August. In coordination with the I-81 construction project, the steam line around Brewster, Boland and Brockway halls will be relocated.

Newhouse, DellPlain Hall and Shaw Hall will also undergo electrical upgrades.

An interior ramp will be installed at the 621 Skytop office building along with interior renovations and additional security measures, including security cameras.
