Three-star class of 2027 cornerback Masiia Acrey has committed to Syracuse, he announced in an Instagram post Sunday. Acrey is a junior at St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania), the same high school as former Orange quarterback Kyle McCord.

Acrey is ranked as the 96th-best corner and the 27th-best player in Pennsylvania in his class, per 247Sports. He was originally offered by SU in January 2025 and received 15 offers before choosing the Orange. Those included Power Four programs like reigning national champion Indiana and Atlantic Coast Conference foes NC State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh.

His addition marks the 12th in Syracuse’s 2027 class, the third under head coach Fran Brown. The group ranks 20th in the country, per 247Sports, continuing Brown’s reputation as one of college football’s premier recruiters.

Acrey hails from Sicklerville, New Jersey, the fifth of the bunch from Brown’s home state. That includes quarterback Charlie Foulke IV, safety Travis Miles and offensive lineman Connor Long. Brown, a Camden native, has maintained strong connections in the Garden State, and it’s shown in all three of his recruiting classes.

Though Acrey won’t join Syracuse until 2027, SU looks to rebound from a subpar 3-9 2025 campaign. The Orange’s 2026 haul ranks 35th nationally, though their transfer class is only the 57th-best. However, they’ll gain starting quarterback Steve Angeli from his Achilles injury, who could return Syracuse to prominence.
