Class of 2026 short-stick defensive midfielder Mike Savage has committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, he announced on social media Friday. Inside Lacrosse designates Savage as a three-star recruit.
Savage was previously committed to North Carolina, pledging on July 27, 2024, but he reopened his commitment and will now join the Orange next season.
The speedy 5-foot-11 Savage currently plays lacrosse at Trinity-Pawling High School (New York). He previously played for Lawrenceville (New Jersey) and Timberlane Regional High School (New Hampshire). Savage also played for the club NH Tomahawks during high school.
Savage will join an SU short-stick defensive midfield corps that will lose starter Dante Bowen, who arrived as a graduate transfer from Ohio State this season and was selected in the Premier League Lacrosse Draft. The Orange will likely retain freshman Jayden Kittelberger, along with juniors Ryder Ochoa, Jake Spallina and Brett Spallina in the position.
The Orange’s 2026 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 9 in the country, per Inside Lacrosse. Other notable incoming freshmen for next season include 10th-ranked defender Jayden James, 45th-ranked midfielder Nick Rayfield and 88th-ranked defender Dominic Perfetti.
