Syracuse men’s rowing stayed at No. 12 in the Week 5 Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association/Intercollegiate Rowing Association Varsity 8+ Poll, which was released Wednesday. The Orange didn’t race this past week.
SU’s second and third varsity 8s are also ranked, slotting in at fourth and ninth, respectively. The 2V8 finished undefeated in the regular season for the first time under head coach Dave Reischman.
With three nationally-ranked crews heading into the postseason, Syracuse is currently 10th in the Ten Eyck team points standings.
The Orange’s next race comes on May 17 at the Eastern Sprints at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts. They aim to secure a spot in the IRA Championship Regatta, which takes place in Sacramento, California, from May 29-31.
Of the 16 teams competing at the Eastern Sprints, all but one (MIT) are ranked among the top-25 in this week’s V8 poll. The top teams in the field are No. 3 Princeton, No. 4 Harvard and No. 6 Brown. Syracuse is familiar with Brown, having faced it at the Princeton Invite on April 11, where SU finished behind the Bears in the V8 race.
