Syracuse women’s rowing dropped one spot to No. 11 in the Week 11 Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll released Tuesday. The Orange also earned one of 12 at-large bids to the NCAA Championships from May 29-31.

SU is one of five Atlantic Coast Conference programs selected to the 22-team field, joining No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 Virginia, No. 8 Cal and No. 13 Miami.

The Orange entered the ACC Championships last weekend ranked No. 10 nationally before slipping below Rutgers, which finished second at the Big Ten Championships.

Despite the slight drop, Syracuse placed fourth among 12 ACC teams at the conference championships. The Orange earned bronze medals in both the second varsity 8 and second varsity 4, also placing fourth in the varsity 4 and varsity 8 finals.

Stanford dominated for the second straight year, sweeping all five final races to secure the conference title. Virginia and Cal rounded out the top three ahead of Syracuse.

The Orange enter the NCAA Championships seeded eighth nationally in the varsity 8. They square off with No. 1 Tennessee, No. 4 Washington, No. 15 Michigan and No. 20 Oregon State in the first heat.

Syracuse’s second varsity 8 slots in at ninth and faces Tennessee, Stanford, No. 12 Central Florida and No. 14 Ohio State. Its V4 ranks No. 13 in its respective field. It competes with Tennessee, No. 10 Rutgers, Oregon State and Massachusetts in the fourth heat.

Last season, SU finished 12th at the NCAA Championships, two points shy of tying its program-best finish. The Orange look to build on that result in search of their first national title in program history.
