UPDATE: This story was updated at 12:18 p.m. on May 21, 2026.

Former Florida goalkeeper Maya Soskin has transferred to Syracuse, Prep Girls Lacrosse’s Riley Kennedy reported late Wednesday night. In 16 appearances as a freshman in 2026, Soskin saved 45.8% of shots on goal, a mark that ranked fourth in the Big 12.

Soskin immediately becomes the top option to back up Dan Guyette, who has one year of eligibility remaining. Former backup Allie Hanlon reportedly entered the transfer portal last week. Soskin’s commitment leaves her, Guyette and Kalena Mandeville — who didn’t appear in a game this season — as SU’s lone rostered goalies.

The Gators finished at least 10 games above .500 for the sixth straight season. They reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 16-8 to Denver, their worst defeat of the year. Soskin then bolted to the Orange, where she reconnects with SU head coach Regy Thorpe — who likely recruited her as Florida’s associate head coach from 2022-25.

With the Gators, Soskin played among a goalie committee, a seldom-seen sight in college lacrosse. She started four games, while Susan Radebaugh picked up 10 starts and Paige Crowther finished with five.

Before her time in Gainesville, Soskin starred at Cold Spring Harbor High School (New York). She was a three-time USA Lacrosse All-American, won two New York State Championships and ranked eighth nationally on Inside Lacrosse’s class of 2025 freshman power rankings.

Soskin is the Orange’s third portal addition this cycle, joining former Virginia defender Olivia Bruno and former Boston College attack Hanna Davis. With Syracuse graduating eight players and Caroline Trinkaus reportedly entering the portal, the three will likely play major roles in 2027.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated that Syracuse goalie Dan Guyette graduated from the program. While Guyette was a senior this past season, she has an extra year of eligibility and intends to return to the roster. The Daily Orange regrets this error.
