Class of 2026 guard Ethan Butler has committed to Syracuse men’s basketball, he announced on Instagram Saturday.

During the 2025-26 season, the Manhattan, New York, native played 17 games for Overtime Elite’s Diamond Doves, which partnered with his preparatory school, Phoenix Prep OTE (Arizona). Butler averaged 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in 14.9 minutes per contest for the club in the league for premier 16- to 20-year-old prospects.

Before attending Phoenix Prep for his senior year of high school, Butler led St. Francis Prep (New York) to a 14-2 record.

Butler held an offer from Siena, where newly-hired SU head coach Gerry McNamara was trying to recruit him. The guard also had offers from Fairfield, Long Island and Fordham, among others.

The Orange’s 2026 recruiting class now includes Butler, center Iker Martinez, guard Ryan Moesch, who flipped from Siena to SU, Slovenian wing Mark Morano Mahmutovič and Malian center Abdramane Siby.
