Former Syracuse attack Finn Thomson has signed with the Premier Lacrosse League’s California Redwoods, the team announced Wednesday. Thomson wasn’t picked in the PLL Draft in April but joins past teammates Michael Leo, Sam English, Dante Bowen and Carter Rice on the team.

The general manager of the Redwoods is Joe Spallina, the father of Thomson’s Syracuse teammates Joey, Jake and Brett Spallina.

While at SU, Thomson blossomed into a starting attack known for his quick-fire release near goal. He was part of Syracuse’s two straight trips to the Final Four. He ended his collegiate career with 111 goals and 48 assists.

Thomson spent his first two seasons with the Orange as a midfielder. In 2025, he earned a place in the starting attacking line but broke his hand six games into the season, missing six weeks. Thomson was fully fit during his senior campaign, leading SU with 45 goals.

Entering the PLL Draft, which fell near the end of the 2026 regular season, Thomson told The Daily Orange he both “was and wasn’t” having conversations with teams. He understood that being undrafted was a possibility.

“At the end of the day, you can’t control that stuff,” Thomson told The D.O. of his PLL snub. “You gotta keep going. And that’s not gonna affect the way I play, anyway.”

On May 27, four days after Syracuse’s season ended, Thomson attended PLL Pro Day. Now, he joins some familiar faces on the Redwoods.
