Former Syracuse women’s basketball assistant coach Amber Moore was hired as an assistant at Florida Gulf Coast University, the Eagles announced Monday morning. Moore spent four seasons on the Orange’s coaching staff, three as director of basketball operations before being elevated to assistant coach for the 2025-26 campaign.

“We’re thrilled to add Amber Moore to our staff,” FGCU head coach Raina Harmon said in a press release. “She brings tremendous experience from Syracuse and has been part of winning programs at a high level. I’m excited for the impact she’s going to have on our players and our program as a whole.”

At SU, Moore focused on recruiting and player development. Alongside first-year general manager Mykala Walker, the Orange fielded a four-player freshman class and acquired four transfers, including stars Laila Phelia and Dominique Darius, for the 2025-26 campaign.

Before Syracuse, Moore worked with SU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack during the 2021-22 season at Buffalo, when the Bulls finished 25-9 and won the Mid-American Conference Tournament. She also built her coaching rapport at Canisius College, Houston Baptist University and Saint Leo University.

Moore was a standout guard at Illinois from 2010-14, becoming one of 13 players in program history to score 1,000 career points. She remains the Fighting Illini’s all-time 3-point field goals leader (295).

The Eagles are coming off a modest 16-16 campaign that culminated in a Women’s National Invitation Tournament appearance. Harmon enters her second year as head coach, and Moore is her first coaching addition for the 2026-27 season.
