Syracuse women’s rowing’s Kateryna Ustiuzhanina, Ellie-Kate Hutchinson and Acorn Cassidy were all named Second Team All-Americans, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced Friday.
All three were mainstays in the Orange’s varsity 8, helping them to a program-best ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships Sunday. The trio was also integral in Syracuse’s fourth-place Atlantic Coast Conference Championships finish, after which Hutchinson earned All-ACC First Team honors, while Ustiuzhanina and Cassidy made the second team.
Ustiuzhanina last earned individual national honors in her freshman year at Kansas; she was an honorable mention in 2023. She was also SU’s sole representative in the 2026 ACC Preseason Watch List.
Both Cassidy and Hutchinson made the Second Team last season. Cassidy, the only underclassman in the group, has been a presence in the V8 boat since her freshman year. She held the four-seat for multiple consequential races this season, including during wins over Brown, Ohio State and Michigan.
Alongside her previous distinctions, Hutchinson was named a rower to watch by the CRCA in February. Cassidy was named an honorable mention. Hutchinson’s since delivered in her senior season, primarily as the V8’s six-seat.
Ustiuzhanina, Hutchinson and Cassidy join four other ACC rowers on the Second Team, Minou Bouman and Olivia Roth of California, alongside Flynn Greene and Brie Joe of Virginia.
