Syracuse men’s basketball will host Central Connecticut State on Nov. 5 at the JMA Wireless Dome, according to a press release from Syracuse Athletics. The matchup is the first confirmed nonconference home game on SU’s schedule and is during the first week of the regular season.
The Orange are coming off a disappointing 15-17 campaign, culminating in the firings of Adrian Autry and his staff. Since Autry’s departure, Syracuse hired former star guard Gerry McNamara as its next head coach and brought along many key players from his two seasons at Siena.
CCSU finished 18-12 last season, its third straight winning campaign. The Blue Devils were led by forward Darin Smith Jr., but he’s since transferred to Rutgers, leaving a considerable gap in Central Connecticut State’s rotation.
SU last faced the Blue Devils on Dec. 31, 2012, at the then-Carrier Dome, where it won 96-62 in the two programs’ lone matchup to date. Michael Carter-Williams led the Orange with 18 points, while C.J. Fair, Brandon Triche and Dajuan Coleman all dropped 13.
Syracuse has also announced nonconference matchups against Indiana, Oklahoma and Providence in November and December.
