Syracuse field hockey falls 3 spots to No. 12 in NFHCA Week 1 Poll

Syracuse field hockey dropped three spots to No. 12 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Week 1 Poll, which was released Tuesday morning. The Orange began their season 2-0, but both victories were by one goal against unranked teams.
Syracuse beat Fairfield and Northeastern despite trailing for short periods of time in both games. It relied on freshman Jovie Weaver to score go-ahead goals in both contests.
Six Atlantic Coast Conference teams were featured in the poll, including Virginia at No. 5, Duke at No. 6 and Wake Forest at No. 7. North Carolina also placed No. 10. Northwestern stayed atop the poll, earning all 11 first-place votes, while Princeton ranked second.
SU has a much tougher task this coming weekend, as it faces its first ranked opponent in No. 20 Rutgers, which is currently 1-1. The Scarlet Knights beat Wagner 7-1 Sunday but fell to then-No. 18 Monmouth 5-1.
