SU adds 4-star LSM JT Macaluso, 4-star midfielder Owen Morret to 2028 class

Syracuse men’s lacrosse added two four-star recruits to its 2028 class Thursday. The Orange gained a commitment from four-star midfielder Owen Morret in the morning and four-star long-stick midfielder JT Macaluso in the afternoon; they both announced on social media.
They’re SU’s sixth and seventh 2028 pledges, and its 2028 class now ranks fifth in the country, per Inside Lacrosse.
Morret is the 92nd-best player in the 2028 class, according to IL. The publication gives the New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, native several 4.5 grades on a five-point scale, including speed, agility and strength.
The midfielder attends Avon Old Farms School (Connecticut), which competes in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class A, the region’s top championship league. Morret also plays for 2Way’s Black 2028 club team and helped it to a 26-4-1 record and a Naptown Challenge trophy last year. He posted 130 points as a Trinity High School (Pennsylvania) freshman before moving to Avon Old Farms.
Meanwhile, Macaluso, who reclassified back from the class of 2027, placed 87th in his new grade, per IL. That gives SU five top-100 players in its 2028 class. The long-stick midfielder’s IL profile states he’s “a takeaway artist who throws complementary checks” and is apt at disrupting flow.
When Macaluso changed classes, he switched from Canisius High School (New York), in the Buffalo area, and joined Morret in the NEPSAC and Founders League at an AOF rival, Salisbury School (Connecticut).
Macaluso played club for Sweetlax Navy. Recent 2028 Syracuse commits, four-star midfielder Jaxon Crouse and three-star midfielder Austin Flaum, also played for Sweetlax affiliates.
