President Donald Trump is set to visit Syracuse on Oct. 9 to campaign with Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman, Spectrum News 1 reported Thursday. The trip marks the first time the president has visited the city while in office.

Blakeman is facing Gov. Kathy Hochul as she seeks a second full term. Trump appeared with Blakeman at an August rally on Long Island, attacking Hochul for New York state’s crime rates.

“Kathy Hochul has been very, very bad on crime — a nightmare for crime,” Trump said at the event.

No details regarding the event have been confirmed.
