Syracuse point guard Kyle Cuffe Jr. is entering the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Friday. The redshirt junior appeared in 59 games with the Orange after transferring from Kansas in 2023. Cuffe is the first SU player to enter the portal this offseason.

After playing sparingly earlier this season, Cuffe broke into the rotation during Atlantic Coast Conference play, carving out a role as a reserve guard. With J.J. Starling injured and Syracuse needing extra ball handlers, head coach Adrian Autry turned to Cuffe. He averaged 5.1 points per game, shooting 33% from the field and 30% from 3. On Dec. 31, Cuffe scored a career-high 14 points against Wake Forest in 36 minutes.

In his first campaign with the Orange, Cuffe’s role was limited. Following two injury-riddled seasons at Kansas, Cuffe broke a bone in his hand, which held him out of action for a month. He went on to average just 3.2 points in 10.7 minutes per game that season.

With Cuffe gone, Syracuse’s only potentially returning guards with eligibility are J.J. Starling and Elijah Moore.
