Syracuse guard Chance Westry entered the transfer portal, The Portal Report reported on Tuesday. Westry played in three games across two seasons at SU after transferring from Auburn. He becomes SU’s fourth player to enter the portal this season, following Kyle Cuffe Jr., Chris Bell and Elijah Moore.
Westry was a four-star recruit before enrolling at Auburn before the 2022-23 season. Injuries derailed his freshman year, as he only appeared in 11 games, averaging 9.3 minutes and 2.5 points per contest. Following the campaign, he entered the portal and committed to Syracuse.
However, injuries again hindered him over the next two seasons. First, a knee injury caused him to miss the entire 2023-24 season. Heading into 2024-25, Westry was seemingly healthy, but an undisclosed illness held him out of the Orange’s first six games.
He then made his long-awaited SU debut against Tennessee on Dec. 3, logging three minutes. Westry made appearances in Syracuse’s two ensuing games against Notre Dame and UAlbany, playing a combined eight minutes. But Westry didn’t play for the remainder of the season, finishing his SU career without scoring a point.
