Syracuse softball cancelled its scheduled game against North Carolina due to inclement weather. The Orange and the Tar Heels will play a doubleheader Sunday to complete the three-game weekend series.

Saturday’s contest, which was slated to be the second of a three-game weekend series, was scheduled to start at 1 p.m., but the game was rescheduled to 6 p.m. due to rain. However, worsening conditions led to the game’s cancellation just ten minutes before the new start time.

In the series opener Friday, the Orange secured its second Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season, beating the Tar Heels 7-5. UNC started off strong, gaining a 4-0 third-inning lead by the third inning. But the Orange struck back with seven runs in the the third and fourth innings. The Tar Heels tried to come back but only managed one more run in the fifth. The win marked SU’s fourth consecutive home win against UNC.

The first leg of Sunday’s doubleheader is at 10 a.m. and the second game is slated to start at 12 p.m.
