Latto will headline this year’s Block Party, alongside Role Model, University Union announced Friday. Block Party is on April 25 at 7 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.
Latto, a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, is the first solo female rapper from Atlanta to receive a Gold and a Platinum RIAA certification. She also released the song “PUSSY” in 2022 as a response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and donated a portion of the proceeds of the song to Planned Parenthood. Latto was honored with the Powerhouse Award at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards in 2023.
Joining Latto in the Block Party lineup is Role Model, a singer-songwriter and former rapper originally from Portland, Maine. He caught the attention of Mac Miller and moved to Los Angeles, where he signed to Interscope Records. Role Model’s debut album, “Rx,” was heavily inspired by his relationship with influencer Emma Chamberlain. Their breakup is said to have informed his new album, “Kansas Anymore.”
Tickets to Block Party are $20 for Syracuse University and SUNY ESF students with a college ID, and $40 for the general public. Tickets for students will be available starting Monday at 12 p.m., and on April 14 for the general public. The JMA Wireless Dome clear-bag policy will be in effect for the show.
