SU announces 2026 class marshals

Chidera Olalere and Silke Pion will serve as Syracuse University’s 2026 class marshals, SU announced in a Wednesday news release.
In their roles, the marshals will recommend the commencement speaker and lead the student procession for next year’s commencement ceremony.
Olalere is a Renée Crown University Honors Program student majoring in biochemistry and forensic science. On campus, she is a tutor at the Stevenson Education Center, a first-responder EMT for SU Ambulance and a student ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences. The rising senior is from Nigeria and England.
Pion is a student in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, studying political science, finance and business analytics. Originally from California, she is also a member of the honors program and serves in leadership roles in SU Hillel, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta.
Along with their commencement responsibilities, Olalere and Pion will provide insights and suggestions on the student experience and attend campus events.
