Former Syracuse forward Chris Bell is transferring to Cal, On3 reported on Wednesday. Bell announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on March 22 after averaging 9.4 points per game across three seasons with the Orange.
Bell was rated a four-star transfer by 247Sports, ranking as the 35th-best small forward to hit the portal. He becomes the Golden Bears’ sixth portal addition, while becoming the fourth SU player to transfer to a different program this offseason.
The small forward started all 62 of his appearances in his freshman and sophomore seasons, knocking down 123 3-pointers at a 39.3% clip. However, Bell’s struggles to open the 2024-25 campaign prompted head coach Adrian Autry to move him into a bench role. Though he heated up from beyond the arc in conference play, Bell finished the season with a 35.3% 3-point percentage, starting just 13 of 33 games.
With Bell’s departure, none of Syracuse’s 2022 recruiting class — which included Judah Mintz, Maliq Brown, Quadir Copeland, Justin Taylor and Peter Carey — remain with the program.
