Syracuse women’s rowing fell from No. 10 to No. 11 in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll Tuesday. The drop comes after a disappointing weekend in Princeton, New Jersey, where the Orange didn’t finish in the top two in any of their six races.

The closest contest SU had was when its third varsity 8 (7:38.7) barely trailed No. 6 Princeton’s 3V4 (7:33.0) and its 4V4 (7:37.8). In every other matchup, the Orange never finished within 10 seconds of the winner. Meanwhile, Syracuse’s worst performance came from its varsity 4, when its time of 7:42.2 handed it last place, trailing third-place No. 17 Ohio State (7:05.4) by 37 seconds.

No. 4 Tennessee rose in the poll Tuesday because it won 4-of-5 contests it participated in at Princeton. The Orange never came close to the Volunteers or the Tigers Saturday. Still, they finished ahead of the Buckeyes three times.

No. 10 Michigan jumped Syracuse because of its lackluster showing Saturday. The Wolverines haven’t raced since April 19. However, they did show why they deserved a higher ranking than SU at the B1G/ACC/Ivy Dual on March 22, when the Orange placed behind them twice in three contests.

Syracuse doesn’t race again until May 16 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in South Carolina, where it will look to capture its second straight ACC title. At the championship, it’ll take on No. 1 Stanford, No. 9 Cal, No. 12 Virginia, No. 18 Duke, No. 22 Clemson and No. 24 North Carolina.
