Shemaj “Big Mook” Henry — a 6-foot-8, 330-pound offensive lineman from Chester, Pennsylvania — announced his commitment to Syracuse football’s 2026 recruiting class via social media Saturday.

Henry held offers from competing northeast programs, Rutgers and Temple. But SU head coach Fran Brown staved off the two schools’ interest to secure Henry’s commitment, another example of Brown’s recruiting dominance in the region.

According to 247Sports, Henry is a three-star recruit listed as an interior offensive lineman. His 6-foot-8 frame makes it much easier for the Orange to develop him at tackle, though.

The trenches are a clear priority for Brown in his 2026 haul, as four offensive linemen are set to join the Orange after this upcoming season, including four-star tackle Javeion Cooper and three-star guard Jojo White.

Henry is now the 15th member of Syracuse’s 2026 recruiting class, which ranks 10th in the nation, per 247Sports. Barring something unforeseen, that freshmen group will be the Orange’s highest-ranked recruiting class since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013.
