Class of 2026 three-star punter Jimmy Gregg has committed to the Orange, he announced on social media Monday afternoon. Ranked as the No. 1 punter in the nation and third-best player in West Virginia, Gregg chose Syracuse over offers from Purdue, West Virginia and NC State, among others.
He becomes SU’s 16th three-star commit of the class and is head coach Fran Brown’s first get from West Virginia. After receiving his offer from Syracuse on March 28, Gregg took his official visit this past weekend and committed during the trip.
“Nobody is doing what coach Brown is doing,” Gregg told 247Sports. “There’s absolutely no place I’d rather be.”
Gregg spent his junior season at University (West Virginia) and will remain there for his senior year. In 2024, he averaged 42.7 yards per punt and downed 21 balls inside the 20-yard line, including nine inside the 10.
Gregg’s commitment continues to bolster the Orange’s 2026 class, which now ranks 27th nationally. He becomes the highest-rated punting recruit in program history.
