Syracuse Athletics has hired former University of Pittsburgh athletic director Heather Lyke, Mike Waters of syracuse.com reported Thursday. Lyke is expected to work in an advisory role in conjunction with SU Director of Athletics John Wildhack and Chancellor Kent Syverud.

Lyke began her career as the assistant athletic director at the University of Cincinnati from 1996-1998 and served in the same position with Ohio State from 1998-2013. Lyke spent four years as the athletic director at Eastern Michigan prior to taking the position at Pitt.

Lyke spent seven years with the Panthers before she was relieved of her duties in September 2024. She then served as the CEO and president of the FBS Athletics Directors Association, an organization that represents the athletics directors of the 134 schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision, for a year before taking the job at Syracuse.
