Defender Bo van Kempen was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The graduate student led No. 11 Syracuse to wins over Lock Haven and Fairfield to begin the season, racking up 19 points across the contests.
In Syracuse’s resounding 15-0 win over Lock Haven, van Kempen scored six goals and collected 13 points, which are both single-game program records. She followed up her performance against the Bald Eagles with a hat trick in a 5-2 win for over Fairfield.
Van Kempen scored on 60% of her total shot attempts in Syracuse’s first two games, also going 2-for-2 on penalty strokes. With nine goals across SU’s first two games, the graduate student is currently tied for the national lead with 4.5 goals per game.
The defender will look to continue her impressive form for Syracuse in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this weekend, where the Orange will play No. 16 Rutgers on Friday before facing No. 13 Ohio State on Sunday.
