Quincy Quillard, a four-star two-way midfielder, has committed to Syracuse men’s lacrosse, Ty Xanders announced on social media Wednesday.
Quillard is the second member of SU’s 2027 class, joining top-ranked goalkeeper Moe Sobel, who committed Monday. Quillard is the No. 76 overall recruit in the class, according to Prep Lacrosse. The midfielder attends St. Sebastian’s School, a prep school in Needham, Massachusetts. He also suits up for 3D New England on the club level.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Quillard has the tools to be an elite midfielder in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Though he can play both ways, Xanders said he projects Quillard as a short stick defensive midfielder. However, Syracuse showed that they could use players both ways after Sam English did it for the past two seasons.
Syracuse has a litany of talent graduating this season. Gary Gait has to prepare for life without Joey Spallina, Michael Leo and others in SU’s fabled 2022 recruiting class. Recruits like Quillard and Sobel will help provide Syracuse with a stable future, alongside the 2026 class, which includes 5-star longpole Jayden James, as well as five other four-star recruits.
Before Syracuse football’s win over UConn Saturday, Gait was on the field next to a number of potential recruits. NCAA coaches started talking to high school juniors on Sept. 1, so it’s likely more recruits will follow in the coming weeks.
