Gallery: SU’s most performative show out for trendy challenge

The host, Jordan Burda, stands next to someone gathering all the performative males to the Carnegie steps. Burda moderated the event starting with an introduction round, followed by a question response round and finally a speech round.

With staggered entrances, the contestants try to gain immediate favor from the audience, but some experience harassment from the crowd. The winner, freshman Naa Oyoo Quist’s arrival, garnered the greatest reaction as the only female competitor.

The contestants reflect different aspects of the Syracuse University community. The participants represented students of every year and a range of majors on campus.

The contestants use props including Labubus, wired headphones and even instruments. Their costumes consistently displayed tote bags and cups of iced matcha.

Feminine products decorate the setting of the question and answer segment. Many contestants used the round to declare their love for women, hatred for menstrual cycles and the greatness of popular female music artists.

Throughout the evening, the contestants form friendships. Upon elimination, they shared their props and wisdom with remaining performative males.

All of the eliminated contestants join the audience following their removal from the competition. Two contestants started a Coldplay sing-along while the others conversed with audience members.
