The Carrier Park Superfield of Dreams will see a new state-of-the-art inclusive sports complex following a $1 million donation from Onondaga County. The new complex will be home to the Syracuse Challenger Baseball program. The anticipated grand opening is set for April 2026.

The Syracuse Challenger Baseball program, the largest of its kind in the country, lacked a home to practice and compete until 2016. Fast forward to April 2026, it not only will have a newly improved space, but the complex will host other adaptive sports.

The upcoming expansion will add two fully accessible turf fields — a multi-sport superfield and a challenger baseball and softball field — improved lighting and infrastructure, expanded spectator viewing areas and upgraded parking and accessibility.

“This investment ensures that every athlete, regardless of ability, has access to a place where they can compete, celebrate, and belong,” County Executive Ryan McMahon said in a press release.

The improved sports complex will host more adaptive sports, community events and regional tournaments. Housing over 250 Challenger Baseball athletes, the Superfield of Dreams has become an example for inclusive recreation, with the expansion attracting visiting teams and families across the Northeast.
